The PACCAR Pavilion and the Bill and Melinda Gates Amphitheatre of the Seattle Art Museum’s Olympic Sculpture Park below, was the setting for Annie Livingston & David Bowermaster’s Wedding Celebration on April 24th. Although there were predictions of a rain storm for the day, it seems the heavy weather blew past north of Seattle and we had a beautiful sunny day with just some occasional gusts of wind.

David and Annie got ready at the Edgewater Hotel which is just down the hill from the Olympic Sculpture Park.

After the end of the reception, Annie and David walked back to the Edgewater Hotel.

I love this view of Times Square from the air. Later on I will publish a panorama I made at ground level in Times Square. Other pictures were taken in Seattle, Paris and Prague. Today is the first day of June and the opening of an exhibition of a dozen panoramic urban landscapes at SRG Gallery in Seattle. I will publish some of them here over the course of the exhibition which will be up until the end of July. This first one was taken in New York City this past January.

The weather has been really nice this week and so it has been hard to stay in and edit photographs but I did manage to finish editing the wedding pictures of this wedding. Mary Bright and Michael Ferrante were married at St. Joseph’s Church in Issaquah on April 10th. It was a beautiful day for a northwest spring weekend wedding. I again had a great time photographing a wedding reception at The Willows Lodge in Woodinville, WA The garden at the Willows Lodge just across from the famous Herb Farm restaurant, is a great location and a perfect place for a wedding reception with great food. I also enjoyed the great music provided by the band Jazz Unlimited who played throughout the reception, including providing some good tunes to dance to. Here are a few photos to start and below is a web gallery with the complete set of 32 images I wanted to display to show off the highlights their wedding day.

Although most of the pictures were shot in digital format I did shoot three rolls of black and white film with my Leica and 35mm lens. I find I still love to see the crispness of the original negatives, even if I do then scan them and view them digitally. The grain of Tri-x has such a different look from a digital frame.

Mary and Michael wanted a wedding portrait with the ruins of this old tree in front of The Willows Lodge. It must have been a grand example of an old growth tree before it died.

Seattle’s Garfield High School, under the direction of Clarence Acox, took top honors on Monday, May 10th in New York at Jazz at Lincoln Center’s 15th Annual Essentially Ellington High School Jazz Band Competition & Festival. The school, based in Seattle’s historic Central District, made competition history, becoming the first band ever to win the competition four times. Last year, the band also took top honors.
Garfield was selected as the winner by a panel of judges composed of distinguished jazz musicians and historians – Jazz at Lincoln Center’s Artistic Director Wynton Marsalis; composer, conductor, and Ellington authority David Berger; leading Mary Lou Williams scholar Ted Buehrer; legendary jazz saxophonist and composer/arranger Jimmy Heath; and bassist and educator Rodney Whitaker – from among the 15 finalist bands from the U.S. and Canada that completed in the competition. At the awards ceremony, Marsalis presented Acox with the 1st place trophy and an award of $5,000. Scott Brown, Director of Seattle’s Roosevelt High School Jazz Band, accepted the award for honorable mention band and received an award of $750. Another Seattle-area band, Edmonds-Woodway high school also competed.
Celebration  concert by the Garfield and Roosevelt HighSchool Jazz Bands on Wednesday, June 9, 7:30pm, McCaw Hall at Seattle Center. Suggested donation $20 at the door, proceeds will benefit the high school music programs and the Seattle Center Foundation.

Sue and Pepper had an April wedding at the fabulous Kiana Lodge, a perfect setting of six-acres, surrounded by fragrant cedars, majestic firs, more than 30 varieties of rhododendrons, and manicured grounds featuring a spectacular view of Puget Sound from 1,000 feet of private no-bank waterfront. Sue and Pepper are a fun loving couple. Pepper surprised Sue near the end of the reception with a fireworks display on the beach of the lodge. Below are the highlights from their wedding celebration and you will see how happy they were with their day. I returned to Seattle with them on the ferry and got a picture of them dancing on the bow as the ferry arrived into the Seattle dock.

It has been seven months since I last photographed Walter and he has done some real growing. His personality is rapidly developing as well. He is now an engaging portrait subject now. Look at those eyes.
